Hi and welcome ... so pleased you could join, thanks so much for taking the time to have a look!

This is a space where I hope to give you a little insight into my journey with sparrow ...

a little idea of what I do, how I do it and why I do it ... the good, the bad and the ugly!

  • a special piece made for a friends Mum

  • depending on the type of piece and size, your purchase will be packaged in a box ready to gift

  • ready to go ... your boxed item will be placed in a courier box and sent ASAP

a wreath is a beautiful piece, symbolising eternal love, life, renewal and rejuvenation. In some cultures they are used to honour the sun and the beginning of spring. Door wreaths are also believed to protect a home and attract positive energy.

pressing flowers

I was incredibly lucky, my lovely Dad made my press, it's huge and I love it!

I use a mix of both pressed and non pressed dried flowers within my paperwork pieces and wooden disc pieces. Non pressed flowers are a little harder to work with as they are a lot easier to break or tear but I love the texture and the depth they give to a piece. Pressing flowers should be easy ;) however I have been caught out and it is such a downer when you open the press to see that you have just lost a batch.

A couple of tips ... I now use either printer paper or watercolour paper to lay my flowers on as it absorbs any moisture left in the flowers. Flowers are placed face down. Between each layer I now use non corrugated cardboard, big big learning curve ... the flowers all turned out with dots on them.

If you don't have a press, no problem, just place each layer between books, heavy ones! I generally leave my flowers for about 4 weeks, if I'm happy I'll use them or leave them a little longer.
